More of Autumn's Second Phase

A few more signs of the second phase of autumn...

Planting garlic. Seems like we just pulled it out of the ground and we're already running low. We planted lots this year, as most of our meals start with garlic sauteing on the stove. Oh, that scent!

And one funky chicken. Rocky has started to molt, and the others will soon follow suit. She's quite a sight with almost no feathers on her neck right now. That poor hen looks like she's seen better days.

What signs of this second half of autumn are you seeing?

  1. We haven't tried planting garlic yet, and I don't think it will happen this year either. I'm hoping to be much more organized next year. We've had such a bizarre autumn this year, half of it has been freezing with blizzards. I'm really hoping to have a nice weekend to get out to the park. Have a great day!

  2. Oh I so love planting garlic and onions this time of year, and then mulching the garden and preparing for the winter ahead

  3. YES!!!! we are running low on garlic already, planting more in the ground and chickens are molting. good to relate.
